Beginning as an intern in 2011, I project managed the re-launch of CIFOR’s Forests News blog in English, French, Spanish and Indonesian. In just 3 years, I oversaw a 1500% increase in site hits and authored/edited hundreds of articles.
I also developed an innovative social media strategy that saw CIFOR’s multi-lingual social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, SlideShare, Google+, YouTube, Flickr) grow to over 25,000 followers.
Perhaps the most rewarding part of my job was building the communications capacity of CIFOR’s scientists. Following a workshop I organized in February 2013 (more on that here), we saw a great increase in awareness and willingness to engage in communications amongst the scientific staff.
I also ran social media training workshops for various CIFOR partners including the Forest Research and Development Agency of Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry (FORDA), The International Forestry Students Association, AusAid and others.
